2nd Teddington Scout Group

#Skills for Life

We are over 100 years old (and celebrated our centenary in 2016) Our first meeting place was the Methodist Church in Teddington, hence our name, however for the past 25 years we have been using the scout hut in Fortescue Avenue in Fulwell, Twickenham.

Our group is friendly and fun, we offer a range of activities and scouting skills as well as plenty of camps and night away experiences across all the ages and sections.

  • Beavers age 6-8 years meet on Fridays
  • Cubs age 8-10.5 years meet on Wednesdays
  • Scouts 10.5-14 years meet on Wednesdays (after Cubs)

Leaders We have a small but dedicated team of leaders who are committed to providing a varied programme, packed with opportunities for adventure and fun across all sections!

Young leaders We are very lucky to have a wonderful team of young leaders at 2nd Teddington. They work alongside our adult leaders, as well as organising games they help plan and deliver the badge work across all our sections. These enthusiastic young leaders volunteer on a regular basis and are an invaluable part of our scout group. They have all been members of 2nd Teddington since they started as Beavers at just 6 years old. The young leaders are taking part (or completed) the Young leaders Training scheme and hold certificates in first aid. We hope they will go on to become amazing adult leaders.

District and International events & Camps

2nd Teddington take part in many of the District events, camps and competitions, last year we came 3rd in the shooting competition and we are busy practising for the scout volleyball competition.

Several of our Scouts have been selected to represent us at previous World Jamborees and have visited Japan and America. We also have two Explorers going to Poland for Eurojam 2020.

We love to camp and offer several nights away experiences each year across all sections, from one-night sleepovers and camps for Beavers to week long summer camps for cubs and scouts and as many other weekend camps that we can fit in, including a winter camp for the brave and hardy!

As a group, we have recently ventured a bit further and took a group of 25 young people to Switzerland and stayed in the International camp site in Kandersteg. This was an amazing adventure that we won’t forget. We travelled from St Pancras to Kandersteg by train and experienced mountain hikes, water rafting, high ropes, cable cars and many other adventurous activities. We hope to plan more international camps in the future, hopefully Iceland in 2021.
