Peak will guide in getting more experience or a Hillwalking or Climbing permit.
Hillwalking Weekends:
· (Early) Friday 22th (travelling) to Sunday 24th February 2024
· (Summer) Friday 10th (travelling) to Sunday 12th May 2024
· (Late) Friday 24th (travelling) to Sunday 26th November 2024
These weekends are run by Peak SASU, a run jointly by GLSW and Surrey Scout Counties SASU and made up of leaders who are also hillwalking and climbing trainers and assessors who have been working together as a team for many years. We support and train Beaver/Cub/Scout/Explorer leaders and lead groups in the hills and mountains ourselves; many of us hold the Mountain Leader and/or Rock Climbing Instructor Awards, as well as adventurous activities permits for the Scouts.
The May weekend we offer training or assessment to take young people climbing on natural rock crags.
Navigation Days:
Whether you are a complete beginner to navigation & map reading or have some experience but want to improve your skills then these workshops are for you.
We cater for all levels of experience providing a highly practical day developing keys skills and putting them into practice out on the ground.
· Sunday 7th April 2024
· Sunday 15th September 2024
If anyone is interested in taking part in any of these training or assessment opportunities, more details are on the County Website which you can access by clicking link above.
