Virtual section meetings using Zoom

Date: 20th April 2020 Between: 8:00 pm - 9:30 pm Location: Zoom online

Learn how to maximise Zoom for online youth section meetings

Joining instructions for confirmed attendees will follow by email.

The training session will cover meeting moderation, controlling the session for GDPR and Safeguarding requirements as well as other advanced controls and features.

Note that Zoom’s free version is not ideal for this purpose and the paid version allows breakout room controls and much more…  North Richmond has therefore taken a paid subscription at £12 a month and the Group considers that this will be excellent value for Section meetings as well as Leader/committee meetings in between.

Russ writes:

“The first Beaver session was in full uniform for all, and the BSL led singing campfire style where chants take a little practice but worked well for engagement.

The Beavers also participated in polls, one at the end got 85% liking it and everyone wanting to meet again like this. In addition, the Beavers did music performances and singing towards their badgework.”

Homework: for those of you who are not familiar with Zoom, please could you go on to Zoom.us, sign up for a free account:

And watch the first few YouTube videos about how Zoom generally works:

Please ensure that you join on a laptop or computer with stable wifi if you can – joining with ipads or mobile phones seems to reduce the things that you can do.

I want the public to know how Scouting continues to open young people’s eyes to a world of extraordinary promise and possibilities.'
