Day Prowl – incident hike CANCELLED

Date: 15th May 2022 Location: Burnham Beeches, Buckinghamshire Sections: Scouts, Explorer Scouts, Scout Network

Day Prowl 2022 – updated 30/04/22

This event has been cancelled

This week, the Corporation of the City of London (the owners of Burnham Beeches) provided a map showing a new “out of bounds” area within Burnham Beeches.

This new “out of bounds area” means that the route that most teams would follow between two of the checkpoints cannot now be used. The alternative routing would entail walking along a narrow twisting road for about ½ mile. which would not meet the requirements of our Risk Assessment.

In view of this late change , the organisers have no option but to cancel this event.

Apologies to all those who were looking forward to this event.

After an absence of 2 years Day Prowl is back!

Requiring a combination of skills including navigation, leadership, communication, endurance, self-reliance, decision-making and other Scouting knowledge, this competition incident hike brings out the best in our Young People and offers some real #Skills for Life.

Teams of Scouts, Explorer Scouts and Guides will be tasked with hiking to various bases located in the deep countryside of the South of England where they will undertake various challenges.  Points will be awarded for safe arrival at bases, completing tasks and correct timing – amongst other requirements.

It’s a firm favourite with many Troops, Units and Guide Companies.
