District AGM 2022

Highlights from the District Conference and AGM

Over 100 Leaders and other volunteers from all over the District gathered last Sunday for the Annual Conference and General Meeting of the District Scout Council.

In the presence of the Mayor, Cllr Julia Cambridge, the District Commissioner, Phil Hunt opened the Conference with a tribute to our Patron, Her Majesty the late Queen Elizabeth II which included a minute’s silence.

Now in the fourth year of the Five Year Plan, Phil explained how the District was performing and was meeting many of its original objectives. The Conference learned that the District now has the largest number of members ever and that our District serves a record of young people as a percentage of the population of the Borough (and in some cases twice that of neighbouring Boroughs).

Phil also outlined our priorities for 2023 which includes some exciting plans for International Experiences for all of our young people.

The Conference heard about our Top Awards from some our younger members – Jess did a great presentation about the Explorer Belt programme and we learned a lot from Matthew and Tom who may well be our first King’s Scouts in the District.

All Officers and Executive Trustees were re-elected during the official AGM section.

The Conference concluded with a big Thank You to everyone involved with Scouting in Richmond upon Thames and all attendees received a small gift from the District Team as a token of appreciation. Together we are great!

The date for next year’s Conference will be published in the next few weeks.
