3rd Heathfield Ibn Battuta Scouts and Zheng He Explorers are fundraising to build a borehole well and a storage water tank at Pride Junior School, established 2019 in a remote village in Maddu Town, Uganda, which is 120 km from Kampala City. This school was started by a Rover Scout and provides education to nearly 400 students facilitating Primary Class 1 to 7.

This borehole well and water tank (that holds up to 10,000 litres) will provide clean and accessible water for the school, along with the entire village community who currently struggle to source and afford water.

The villagers face significant hardships, having to transport water daily to the school via jerry cans from a neighbouring church at some distance from the school.

This project involves significant costs due to the challenges in accessing the water which has a depth of nearly 60m below ground level, once completed this will provide a lasting impact, making it accessible to have sustainable clean water for the school and community.

3rd Heathfield Scout Group is collaborating with the National Union of Ugandan Muslim Scouts (NUUMS) to ensure this project is successfully executed. Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a profound difference in the lives of these students and the community.
