A Parade, some flag waving and Mayors
Richmond upon Thames Scout District were represented at a parade which took place at York House on the 8th June to mark the 65th anniversary of European Town
Twinning with Konstanz and Fontainebleau.
The parade was a part of a a weekend of festivities to reaffirm the borough’s long-standing international partnerships with Konstanz in Germany and Fontainebleau in France.
The parade included various groups from all three towns – led by a band along with flag waving and other displays for three Mayors and other dignitaries in front of York House.
We were particularly honoured that a Scout was asked to lead the parade as the flag bearer of the Union flag, along with the national flags of Germany and France and the flag of the Council of Europe.
One participant noted afterwards that “We felt really proud to be representing Scouts across the District and to be involved in such an important event in front of the mayors of the three towns“.
Participating in the event of course contributed towards International Scout badges!
