Black Rod praises Explorers
Further to the article last week about our Scouts attending the State Opening of Parliament, we were delighted to read this letter from Scout HQ:
I attended a wash up meeting at The House of Lords today. Black Rod was full of praise for the Explorers, on what she said, was the one of the most difficult and complicated State Opening for a number of years. She was impressed by the maturity they showed at the rehearsal and when she met them on the Sunday, too.
She has asked me to pass on her and the members thanks. There was also a special mention from the American Ambassador, whom spent several minutes speaking with one of the unit and was very impressed with the way he spoke about his scouting. Being an Eagle Scout himself the Ambassador said that ‘things like this go far to building bridges between the nations’.
Please would you let the young people know how well the House of Lords and Black Rod thought of them.
All the best
