Camp at Home Challenge

Date: 7th Apr 2020 Author: Peter Tomlin

Calling all young people from across Richmond District, the UK and the whole family of Scouting…

COVID-19 may have changed the way we do things, but it won’t stop Scouts camping!

You’re invited to take part in our first ever virtual camp during April 2020. The event will run from 1st April – 30th April 2020. You can camp@home for just 1 night or for the whole 30 nights, just get stuck in and have fun!

Some Richmond District Groups will be camping on the 30th April, where the aim is to have as many Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers and Leaders camping out…the largest virtual camp, so make sure you’re prepared!

Take up the challenge and let’s keep up the #scoutsolation activities.

THE RULES

– Pack a bag
– Build a den at home/ pitch a tent in the garden/ hang up a hammock (whatever you can)
– Sleep in your shelter of choice
– Build a ‘campfire’ (real or virtual)
– Take part in a ‘Scouty activity’ (check out our District challenges)
– Help with cooking a meal

Each Young Person who takes part will be entitled to 1 Nights Away award for each night they participate (as long as they aren’t sleeping in a comfy bed). Meaning you could get lots of extra Nights Away awards!

Further details of how one of our Groups is preparing for the 30th April can be found on the Indoor Scouting page.
