Camp at Home – the evidence!

Date: 4th May 2020 Author: Peter Tomlin
On the 30th April, 3rd Whitton Beavers, Cubs and Scouts and Edmund Hilary Explorers joined in with the Northumberland Scouts record breaking attempt for the worlds largest ever ‘Camp at Home’.
Along with other Richmond District Scout Groups, over 50 young people and 7 adults from 3rd Whitton and Edmund Hilary joined over 84,000 Scouts from 67 countries.
They cooked ‘Back to basics’ camp meals, designed ‘thank the NHS’ bunting, crafted camp fires…and had a few real ones, and slept under canvas in their gardens or in tents, dens, and makeshift shelters in their houses.  Two Zoom calls to check in with each other during the evening topped off a great event, helping us all to keep on Scouting ….even when at home.

I want the public to know how Scouting continues to open young people’s eyes to a world of extraordinary promise and possibilities.'
