MARK WOOD SOLO100: A PLATFORM FOR CHANGE

Following on from Mark Woods’ talk to the District on Monday 31 January, his next expedition is SOLO 100, across the Arctic: alone for 100 days covering over 1850km of unstable sea ice crossing the most hostile and unforgiving environment on the planet. He will be treking in average temperatures of minus 40, strong polar winds and with no human contact – and then there is the added danger of polar bears. You can find out more here: http://expeditionsolo100.com/

Mark plans to empower people to amplify their voices and share their commitment to climate action with the world.

Each day of the expedition Mark will update his journey from the ice which will go live onto all social media channels, allowing people to feel like they are sitting shoulder to shoulder with him on the expedition.

Mark will also release a short film made by young people each day who want to encourage others through their own actions on climate change.

This is where you come in:

Either as a Troop or District let’s see if the Scouts can come up with their own commitment as to how they will tackle climate change around where we live and encourage others to commit to making a difference. We will turn these ideas into a short video and send to Mark.
