Go away on a Roverway to Norway?
WANT TO MEET SCOUTS AND GUIDES FROM ACROSS EUROPE FOR AN INTERNATIONAL ADVENTURE IN NORWAY?
Roverway is a once in a lifetime European Scout and Guide event from the 22nd July to the 5th August 2024 in Norway for participants aged 16 – 22 and IST over the age of 22.
Roverway brings together more than 5,000 Scouts and Guides from all over Europe.
In the first five days participants in patrols (5-8 people) chose one of a number of ‘paths’ with themes exploring Norwegian nature and
culture. The patrols will form part of an international ‘tribe’ of fifty people from across Europe.
For the second section, participants all join together for a Jamboree style camp.
The final part of Roverway is a UK contingent post event.
Who can go to Roverway?
Participants must be Explorer Scouts or Network members born between 1 August 2002 and 22 July 2008.
Each patrol must include a Patrol Leader (PL) and Assistant Patrol Leader (APL) who will be aged 18 or over by 1 January 2024. Where a member of the patrol will be aged under 18 by 22 July 2024, there must be a minimum of two under 18s.
GLSW Scout County are looking for 8 participants to take part in this adventure and join the UK contingent.
How much does it cost?
The fee for participants is £1,999 per person. The fee includes travel to and from the UK, meals, travel in Norway, attendance at the event, kit and a training event in the UK.
How are you selecting participants?
We will hold an online selection for those wanting to be PL or APL (likely to be before Easter) and a ballot for the remainder of the places. This is in line with HQ guidance on selection

What do Patrol Leaders and Assistant Patrol Leaders do?
Patrol Leaders and Assistant Patrol Leaders must be over 18 and will coordinate the activities of the patrol
The Patrol Leader must have a Nights Away Permit and First Response (First Aid) certificate by the time of the event – don’t worry if you don’t have these already, we can help you with training and funding for this training if you need it
You will be the communication point between your patrol and the Contingent Management Team (CMT), who will be there to support you
You won’t have full responsibility for the under 18 members of your patrol – this ‘parental’ responsibility sits with the CMT – but you will be keen to support and help them along the way
All Patrol Leaders will meet for a weekend to learn leadership skills and get all the latest information so that they feel confident to safely lead their patrol.
Assistant Patrol Leaders support the Patrol Leader and, if for any reason the Patrol Leader can’t continue with Roverway, their Assistant would take over
Being a PL / APL is a great opportunity to take part in some training and develop your leadership skills, all in a fully supported environment – why not give it a go?
