Ham Scouts hike the north downs

Over the  weekend the 15th – 16th October Ham Scouts braved public transport and took the train to Dorking.

We hiked along the North Downs Way National Trail from the station to Ranmore Scout Campsite, taking in the awesome views of the Surrey Hills and looking across to Leith Hill Tower while taking a relaxed lunch and chilling out on the meadow.

This gave us a great opportunity to put our orienteering skills to good use.

We arrived at the campsite singing “we are Ham” and scattering the local wildlife, but being welcomed by good weather and juice and snacks.

The Scouts made their own meals with self heating ration packs and after a great evening round the campfire, packed up the next day and hiked back, to return by bus.

A highly recommended Scout trip and any leaders who wish to have the details, please contact me via the Ham Scout Group e-mail address here.
