Happy New Year! NSGSO/NSGCB and the WSJ Jamboree
We start another year with a number of challenges and uncertainties yet again due the pandemic.
We are keeping our fingers crossed that most of our exciting activities this term can go ahead, albeit with some modifications to keep everyone safe.
In case you missed it, the ballot for places for the 25th World Scout Jamboree 2023 took place in December and the District will be supporting UK Contingent Members from 10th Teddington, Petersham and Ham, 1st Twickenham, 8th Twickenham, 1st Richmond, 1st Whitton, 2nd Whitton, 3rd Hampton, 7th Hampton, Cook ESU and Erik Armstrong ESU. Of course, because of the very limited number of available places there are lot of disappointed people. So in response to local demand the District, with the support of GLSW County will be actively pursuing every opportunity to provide a suitable national or international experience for as many Young People as we can! We can’t promise a trip to far flung places like Korea for everyone – but we can offer some brilliant experiences you won’t get with any other youth organisation. Watch this space.
In other news – well done to Fergus from St. Mary Barnes Scout Group. Fergus has been offered a place in the National Scout & Guide Symphony Orchestra and Concert Band playing the oboe. To be able to represent his Group at a National level is a fantastic achievement and the District will be supporting him in any way we can.
