Helping hedgehogs
3rd Whitton Scout Group/Edmund Hillary Explorers recently explored the world of hedgehogs, during Hedgehog Awareness Week. The Group thought this the perfect time to think about how to make their own HQ grounds a little more hedgehog-friendly. In the UK research shows hedgehogs are in decline and are now listed as ‘Vulnerable’ on Britain’s Red List of mammals.
GSL Caron writes: We had the Hedgehog Society come and visit and all sections were involved in helping the local hedgehog population by making feeding stations, signs to go on wooden homes and ensure that the boundary between our HQ and the recreation ground was hedgehog friendly.
