It’s cold, it’s dark, it’s wet – can you last the night?

GIVE UP YOUR COMFORT FOR THOSE WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES

During the month of March you are challenged to brave a cold and potentially wet night to sleep out under the stars while fundraising for our most vulnerable veterans. The challenge doesn’t replicate rough sleeping, but it does give you an idea of the situation far too many of the nation’s heroes find themselves in.

The Great Tommy Sleep Out is a remarkable event in support of Royal British Legion Industries (RBLI). 2024 will be its 4th year and the organisers are hoping to make it RBLI’s biggest event ever. In 2023 84 groups took part alongside thousands of individual supporters raising together an outstanding £500k.

RBLI is a distinguished charity organisation that works tirelessly to provide care and support to our veterans, particularly those who have faced challenges and hardships upon returning from their service and find themselves in emergency homeless accommodation. The Great Tommy Sleep Out is a fundraising initiative aimed at raising awareness and vital funds to empower and improve the lives of these brave individuals.

The Great Tommy Sleep Out takes place in March 2024. It is an opportunity for Scouts across the nation to come together and have a positive impact in the lives of our veterans. By participating in the event, Scouts will not only demonstrate their commitment to serving their community but also contribute towards a cause that resonates with the core values of Scouting.

Scout Groups who have previous taken part in the event have said that the Sleep Out aligns with our core values and builds on leadership, teamwork, community engagement, personal growth, and empathy.

To register for the event or obtain further information, please visit the website at rbli.co.uk/sleepout or contact Lisa Cooksley-White from the fundraising team on 01622 795912.

Together, we can bring hope, dignity and brighter futures to our veterans.
