A wonderful solution to a Group scarf change

1st Twickenham Scout Group decided to change the design of their Group scarf – and everyone was excited.

But what to do with the existing scarves?

Nicola from 1st Twickenham was determined that they wouldn’t go to landfill so she persevered and finally managed to make contact with a Scout Group in Gambia.

Parents returned many of the old-style neckerchiefs and Nicola arranged for them to be sent to the African Scout Group.

This is from a Scout Leader in Gambia:

I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for the incredibly thoughtful gesture of donating our Scout Troop with the beautiful scarves. It was truly a touching and unexpected surprise, and we are immensely thankful for your generosity.

The scarves are not only practical and stylish, but they also serve as a symbol of the close-knit community and camaraderie we share as Scouts. Each time we wear them, we will be reminded of the bond we have formed and the friendships we cherish within our Troop.

Your kindness and support mean the world to us. Your thoughtful appreciation of our hard work and dedication serves as a great encouragement to our Scouts to continue striving for excellence. Such gestures remind us of the value of the Scout spirit and reinforce our commitment to the principles of teamwork, leadership, and service.

Please convey our sincere appreciation to everyone involved in making this generous gift possible. Your continuous support uplifts our spirits and inspires us to keep pushing ourselves to new heights.

Once again, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your thoughtfulness and for making our Scout Troop feel cherished. We are truly grateful for your kind gesture and look forward to continuing our shared journey of scouting with renewed enthusiasm and unity.

Scarf or Necker?
The Scout scarf / neckerchief / necker is recognised as core element of uniform all over the world and reminds all of us that we’re part of one big Scouting family.
Woggled or knotted, rolled or folded – Groups have different ways of wearing the scarf. Just make sure not to get your neckers in a twist!
