Petersham & Ham Scout Group
Changes to the Group structure of P&H Scout Group
Petersham and Ham Sea Scout Group, under the leadership of Karin Noble has seen a dramatic growth in membership over the past 10 years increasing from 7 Leaders in 2012 to 52 now, and from 60 young people in 2012 to 254 at the last census. On top of that, the Group is enjoying their fantastic new HQ, also masterminded by Karin.
The Group is now making a number of changes to secure the successes seen to date and to lay the foundations for further development of the Group.
This includes:
- A new larger Group Leadership Team, based on a distributed leadership model, to provide greater support to section leader teams
- A shift in focus from roles to tasks to facilitate more flexible volunteering
- A renewed focus on greater sharing of knowledge and materials between sections
- A focus on making recruitment and training easier
- Further investment in our Young Leaders to become our Leaders for tomorrow
Consequently, Karin Noble, in recognition of her dedicated work with the Group spanning over 45 years, takes on the role of Group President. But her involvement will be much more than merely ceremonial – as an inspirational leader, you will see Karin at the heart of many Squirrel, Beaver, Cub and Scout activities for some time to come as she is keen to continue ‘hands-on’ support.
Chris Wright is appointed Group Scout Leader, accountable to the District and responsible for all aspects of Scouting within the Group. Chris joined P&H in 2014, firstly as an ABSL, then founding the Sea Hawks Pack and more latterly as AGSL for Cubs from January 2018. He was previously Fellowship Chair for Royal Kingston District from 2008 to 2014 and prior to that held Cub Leader, Beaver Leader and Group Chair roles at 1st Ickenham Scout Group between 2001 and 2008.

Our congratulations and best wishes to everyone in their new Appointments.
