Silver Wolf awarded

Date: 1st Nov 2024 Author: Peter Tomlin

We are pleased to inform all Scouters and volunteers in the Richmond upon Thames District, that the Chief Scout,  Dwayne Fields, has awarded Richmond upon Thames Thames District Lead Volunteer, Phil Hunt, the Silver Wolf for services to Scouting.

Phil took over as District Lead Volunteer (what was then the District Commissioner role) in 2018 and has made many changes and given much encouragement to all members of Richmond upon Thames Scouts. This has included steering the District through the Covid pandemic as well as the recent Transformation period. Phil’s innovations have led to this website, improved collaboration, year on year increases in membership, a highly successful and popular District Shop, more District camps and – most recently – the return of Day Prowl.

His encouragement and vision has been an inspiration to all Leaders and youngsters alike.

We all congratulate Phil on his award.

The Silver Wolf is the highest award made by The Scout Association “for services of the most exceptional character.” It is an unrestricted gift of the Chief Scout. The award consists of a Silver Wolf suspended from a dark green and yellow neck ribbon.
