Teddington Scout Groups join forces

Date: 6th Jul 2021 Author: Phil Hunt

Two Groups are combining to provide even better Scouting

3rd Teddington Scout Group and 7th Teddington Scout Group are joining together to form a new Scouting provision in Teddington. The new amalgamated Group will start in September. Until then both Groups will finish this term separately.

Keith Wincott ADC Growth & Development is overseeing the change and is the (temporary) Group Scout Leader of the new Group.

The statement to Parents and Friends sent earlier today explains more:

Dear Parents and Friends,

Joining Forces

Here in the Scouts we’re always looking at ways to improve and provide better opportunities for more young people to experience high quality activities and offer them Skills for Life.

With this in mind, 3rd Teddington and 7th Teddington Scout Groups will be joining forces to create a bigger and better Scout Group able to provide a great Scouting programme for Beaver Scouts (6-8 years), Cub Scouts (8-10½years) and Scouts (10½-14 years). For the over 14s there will also be links to Teddington based Explorer Scouts which can offer the full Duke of Edinburgh scheme and more.

When?

The new combined Scout Group will start operating for the start of the Autumn term in September 2021. The exact date will be announced as soon as we can.

Until then, both Groups will continue with their Summer programme separately as planned.

What does this mean for me?

If your child is (or if you are) a current registered member of 3rd or 7th Teddington Scout Group, then a place is guaranteed in the new structure.

We are still working on some of the important details such as days and times of meetings as well as the venue – but we are aiming for the least disruption and the best fit for everyone.

What we can tell you is that meetings will be in the vicinity of St. Mark’s Road Teddington and that most of the Leaders and volunteers you know and love will be transitioning too. So it should be familiar territory for everyone.

Other changes

There will be a lot of detail to sort out before September – everything from making sure we have enough adult volunteers and equipment to questions about uniform and fees.

We will keep in touch as things develop.

Get in touch

If you have any concerns, comments or indeed if you can help in any way with the transition, we would love to hear from you.

Together we are building a stronger Scout Group to give the young people of Teddington an even better Scouting experience to prepare them with the Skills for Life we all know they deserve.

Contact us directly as below or via your Leader.

Best wishes
