Richmond Network and Shackleton ESU at Revolution Camp 2025

a report by Emma Doran

The Leader tree ready for harvesting

Over the Easter weekend, members of Richmond Network, along with Shackleton ESU, made their way to the Isle of Wight for Revolution Camp 2025 — and what an unforgettable few days it turned out to be!

This year’s theme was ‘The 5th Season’, and the camp truly delivered a whirlwind of fun across every type of activity. We pushed ourselves with tree climbing, caught the waves bodyboarding, and got competitive in laser tag. We even picked up new skills like ukulele playing, skateboarding, and — for some of us — the art of Morris dancing!

Evenings were just as lively, featuring a brilliant disco, lots of laughs at karaoke, and a massive campfire complete with some… let’s just say, slightly more interesting post-watershed songs that had everyone in stitches.

The weather certainly kept us on our toes, but despite some strong winds, our tents stood firm and our spirits stayed high. It was fantastic to spend time outdoors, challenge ourselves, and meet Scouts from all over the country.

A huge thank you to all the organisers for putting together such an amazing event — we’re already counting down to the next one!

Revolution is a joint Explorer Scout & Network Scout activity camp, held over the 4 days of the Easter bank Holiday weekend held on the Isle of Wight.

Starting as a Venture Scout camp back in 1995 with 75 attendees, it has grown in size and ambition over the years to now becoming the go-to camp for around 400 Explorer and Network groups from across the country.
