Remembrance Sunday 2024

Across the District: Scout Groups, Explorer Units and Network participated in Remembrance Sunday parades, services and events.

3rd Whitton Scout Group and Edmund Hilary Explorer Unit joined in with the parade and commemoration in Twickenham.

Group Lead Volunteer Caron commented: I was so very proud of all our Young People, Leaders and Parents that came to take part in this special day, to remember all those people and animals that gave their lives in all Wars gone by and (sadly) Wars that are still happening today.  To be a part of Twickenham’s Community for Remembrance Sunday’s Parade with The Royal British Legion gave the young people a more insightful explanation of why we Remember those who died for our freedom today.

The Twickenham Branch of the Royal British Legion sent 3rd Whitton and Edmund Hilary Explorer Group this message after the event: “We at the RBL are all so pleased that you came & that you all enjoyed it.  We must say how well your Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers and Leaders performed their duties & with the respect the occasion needs – you must be so proud of them all. For us it was a great experience too  – to have you all there with us on our Special Day & of course we’ll see you next year on the  11/11/25.”

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
