You’ve seen the film, now experience the reality – Madagascar
In July/August 2025 there will be a 3 week UK Scout expedition to Madagascar, which lies off the east African coast.
The expedition will be working together with Malagasy Scouts and local partner organisations, building shared experiences, exchanging ideas, contributing to local community and Scout projects and exploring Madagascar.
During the expedition there will have a strong focus on youth development, working in partnership with Akany Avoko Children’s Centres who care for vulnerable children and with other organisations supporting their work with young people, Environmental protection and Water and Sanitation education. All the time working together with Malagasy Scouts as a joint team.
An integral part of the expedition is the preparation in the UK before travel. This will include around six weekends focused on getting to know everyone in the team and learning the skills and knowledge needed to make the most of the expedition. Full commitment to join all of the preparation events is an essential aspect of being part of the team. These preparation weekends (typically camping) are expected to take place around the Midlands.
You can apply to be a participant – aged 18-24 (presumably at the time of the expedition) or a leader.
But you need to hurry – applications close 31 January 2024.
